PURPOSE:

To honor and recognize athletes, teams, coaches, administrators and others who have brought recognition, honor and distinction to Marietta through outstanding contributions to the athletic program at Marietta High School, at the former Lemon Street High School, at the collegiate level or beyond. Induction into the Marietta Athletic Hall of Fame will be the highest honor that the athletic department can bestow upon an individual. 

CATEGORIES OF NOMINATIONS:

Former Athlete – an athlete much be an alumnus of Marietta High School or Lemon Street High School and be graduated a minimum of 10 years prior to nomination. 

Coach / Administrator – a coach or administrator must be retired from the Marietta City Schools and must have served in the Marietta City Schools a minimum of five years prior to nomination. 

Team – a single season athletic team must have its senior class members graduated a minimum of 10 years prior to nomination. 

Contributor – a contributor to Marietta athletics may be nominated at any time. 

Posthumous – a nomination received posthumously for any category may be given at any time.      

GUIDELINES FOR SELECTION:

1.      Level of competition (varsity, collegiate or beyond)

2.      Contributions to the athletic program

3.      Athletic accomplishments after graduation

4.      Honors and awards

5.      School, state or national records

6.      Length of affiliation with the athletic program

7.      Leadership

8.      Involvement in community

9.      Citizenship/sportsmanship

NOMINATIONS

Nomination forms will be accepted by the Director of Athletic Development at Marietta High School (Mr. Craig McKinney) on an ongoing basis. All nominations much be on file before the initial selection committee meeting (May) to be considered for induction in the fall of each year. 

To complete the nomination process for the Marietta Athletic Hall of Fame, please complete and submit THIS GOOGLE FORM along with a current resume as soon as possible. Be as complete as possible. We cannot have too much information. Nominations for the 2025 inductions are due by April 25, 2025.
