Marietta Blue Devils Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 5-2 loss to South Paulding on Monday. South Paulding scored on a walk by Hope Barnett, a walk by C Crott, and a groundout by S Baxter in the first inning.
South Paulding opened up scoring in the first inning. Barnett drew a walk, scoring one run.
Z Smith was in the pitcher's circle for South Paulding. The hurler allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out seven.
Toni Sims led things off in the circle for Marietta Blue Devils Varsity. The righty lasted one inning, allowing one hit and four runs while striking out one. McKaela Walker threw six innings out of the bullpen.
Crott went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead South Paulding in hits.

Marietta Blue Devils Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 12-1 loss to North Cobb on Tuesday. North Cobb took the lead on a single in the first inning.
The Marietta Blue Devils Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing North Cobb, giving up 12 runs.
North Cobb scored six runs in the fourth inning. The offensive firepower by North Cobb was led by Brumley, Minard, Self, and King, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Mathews led things off on the rubber for North Cobb. The ace lasted one inning, allowing one hit and one run while striking out two.
Smith led North Cobb with two hits in two at bats.
