Stanecia Nelson

Stanecia Roy Nelson is originally from Dallas, TX and recently relocated to Georgia after marrying her husband Don Nelson Jr, who currently coaches at Morehouse College. She graduated from Texas Tech University with her BS in Human Development & Family Studies/Secondary Education and received her Master’s in Early Childhood from Stephen F Austin University. This upcoming school year will be her 7th year teaching and her 6th year coaching. She is the instructor of Marietta High School’s Early Childhood Education program.
While coaching cheer, in Texas, under her supervision her teams have won numerous NCA titles including state and national championships, including the recent 2019 Small Game Day Champions. Stanecia is excited for the upcoming season and excited to introduce the Game Day Competition format to the organization. |
Alana Mclemore

Coach McLemore is a native of Atlanta, Georgia, and graduate of St. Pius X Catholic High School, ‘04. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Legal Communication from Howard University, ’08, and her Master’s degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University, ‘13. She began her teaching career at Sandy Spring Charter Middle School in 2009, where she established and coached their middle school cheerleading program for 6 years. From 2012 to 2015, she also served as the Assistant Varsity Cheerleading Coach at North Springs Charter High School. Coach McLemore joined the Marietta City Schools’ family three years ago as a special education math teacher at Marietta Middle School. This is her 3rd year as a cheerleading coach for Marietta High School. In addition to coaching cheerleading, Coach McLemore is also an assistant sprints and relays’ coach for both the Marietta Middle and High School Track and Field programs. She is very excited about moving up to JV Cheerleading, and can’t wait for another amazing year!

Adeshi Owens

Coach Owens is a Marietta native whose heart bleeds blue. She is a graduate of Marietta High School from the class of ‘99’. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management as well as her Master’s degree in Teaching E.S.O.L. from Kennesaw State University, ‘12’. She began her teaching career in 2012 at Park Street Elementary, where she currently is an E.S.O.L teacher. Her coaching career began in 2015 as the Head Varsity Cheerleading coach for Basketball. She coached Varsity for 4 years and currently holds the title as Head Cheerleading coach for the Freshman Cheerleading team. While attending Marietta High School, Coach Owens cheered on both the Junior Varsity and Varsity cheer teams so cheer is near and dear to her heart. When Coach Owens is not attending sporting events for the Blue Devils she enjoys traveling, dancing, eating at new restaurants, and spending time with family, especially her two children.

Methany Thornton, is a graduate of Gordon Central’s class of 1995. Although she is not a Marietta native, she is a proud Blue Devil at heart. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Grades Education from Shorter University. Coach Thornton is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction at Thomas University. She began her teaching career in 2017 at Marietta Middle School where she teaches 8th grade English/Language Arts. Her coaching career at Marietta Middle also began in 2017 as the Head Cheerleading coach for Football. She has about 15 years of experience with cheer from coaching in her community and at MMS. In her spare time, Coach Thornton loves to spend time with her family and friends, especially her husband, Kelcey Thornton. She also loves to dance, sing, color, and anything that makes her laugh.
